As a teenager, Nick dreamed of cooking in fine dining kitchens. He decided to take a brief sabbatical in college to pursue his childhood culinary aspirations, where he promptly got his butt kicked by the life of line-cookery. Nick eventually migrated from the kitchen to the bar, while also completing his BS in Sustainable Agriculture at UCSC. He quickly became enamored with the bar world, and decided to leave California for New York City to work in some of the world’s best bars. In 2016 Nick took a weekend knife-making course, and he was hooked. What started as a hobby quickly became a side hustle, and in 2022 Nick moved back to the Bay Area to pursue bladesmithing full-time.

Rolin Knives is a one-man operation. Nick forges, grinds, heat treats, and does the woodwork for all his pieces. He lives above his workshop in Oakland, CA.
